Michael Daves & Jacob Jolliff

Acclaimed performers on the national bluegrass scene who appeared at FreshGrass Festival in 2025, Michael Daves (guitar and vocal) and Jacob Jolliff (mandolin and vocal) are two of America’s most compelling acoustic talents.

After years of collaborating in bands, they’ve forged a powerful duo that brings high-lonesome vocal harmony and fiery flatpicking to every performance. Their sound honors the classic guitar-mandolin “brother duets” of bluegrass lore while embracing improvisation and inspired musical turns that keep audiences on their toes.

The duo will be celebrating the release of their new album We Like Jim & Jesse!, out in March on Wild Geranium Records. The recording pays homage to first-generation bluegrass innovators Jim & Jesse and the Virginia Boys, combining a studied interpretation of those classic recordings with the improvisational fire and rafter-lifting harmonies that Daves & Jolliff have become known for. Daves, a “leading light of the New York bluegrass scene” (New York Times) is Grammy-nominated for his work with Chris Thile and has collaborated with many bluegrass luminaries including Tony Trischka, Andy Statman, Bruce Molsky, and Peter Rowan. Jolliff has become one of the country's most notable contemporary mandolinists, touring with Béla Fleck as part of My Bluegrass Heart, with Yonder Mountain String Band, and with his own quartet.
