When: Monday, April 20th and Tuesday, April 21st, from 7 to 9 PM; callbacks by invitation on Wednesday, April 22nd at 7 PM Where: ACT Mainstage Rehearsal dates: May 11-June 18, 2026, Mondays through Fridays, 7 PM to 10 PM Performance dates: June 19-21 and 26-28, 2026 Auditions are for all parts, and no previous acting experience is necessary. Auditions for this show will consist of cold readings from the script. Please bring your calendar or dates reflecting any conflicts you may have. Characters: • Judas Iscariot (20s-40s): Judas is one of the 12 Apostles and Jesus’ best friend. He is currently in Purgatory while his soul is put on trial. Throughout most of the show, Judas is in a catatonic state and only snaps out of it periodically for flashbacks during the trial. • Fabiana Cunningham (20s-40s): Fabiana Aziza Cunningham is of New York/Irish descent and experienced many hardships while alive. She is nothing if not persistent. She acquires the writ which jumpstarts Judas’ trial and serves as his defense attorney, attempting to send Judas’ soul to Heaven. • Yousef El-Fayoumy (20s-40s): Yusef Akbar Azziz Al-Nassar Gamel El-Fayoumy gives the impression of a greasy used car salesman. He’s very flashy (with no substance), all about flattery, and serves as the prosecuting attorney. • Judge Littlefield (40s-60s): Littlefield is the curmudgeonly, no-nonsense judge presiding over Judas’ trial. Note: This actor doubles as Caiaphas the Elder, who presided over Jesus’ trial before and now serves as a witness in Judas’ trial. • Bailiff (20s-30s): The bailiff (Julius of Outer Mongolia) assists Judge Littlefield during the trial and temporarily takes over when Judge Littlefield has to recuse himself. Note: This actor doubles as Simon the Zealot, one of the 12 Apostles and a witness in the trial. • Jesus (20s-30s): Jesus Christ, the founding figure of Christianity and Judas’ best friend. Note: We will be using gender-blind casting for this role. • Satan (30s-40s): Prince of Darkness, Lucifer, very suave and smooth-talking. Satan is called as a witness to testify in Judas Iscariot’s trial. Note: We will be using gender-blind casting for this role. • Henrietta Iscariot (40s-60s): Henrietta is the mother of Judas Iscariot who comes from a rather simple, lower socioeconomic background. She loves her child with every fiber of her being. She serves as a witness during Judas’ trial. • Gloria (40s-60s): An angel who periodically returns to Earth to check in on her family. She briefly serves as Purgatory tour guide for the audience and is a member of the jury. • Butch Honeywell (30s-50s): Butch is a former college professor currently serving time in Purgatory. He is the foreman of the jury during Judas’ trial. • Loretta (any age): Loretta is currently on life-support, though her soul is temporarily in Purgatory while she waits to see if she lives or dies. She serves as a jury member. • Mother Teresa (60s-70s): also known as Saint Teresa of Calcutta, she is best known for her tireless charitable works and adherence to traditional Catholic beliefs. Mother Teresa is also very hard-of-hearing. She is a witness in the trial. • Mary Magdalene (20s-30s): Mary is one of Jesus’ most trusted disciples and one of his best friends. She has a special affinity for Judas. Note: This actor doubles as Sister Glenna, an Irish nun and friend of Mother Teresa. • Pontius Pilate (30s-60s): A Roman governor who ultimately orders Jesus’ crucifixion, he is very decidedly a politician. He is called in as a witness during the trial. Note: This actor also provides the voice for Uncle Pino, Loretta’s uncle. • Sigmund Freud (30s): He is one of the founders of modern psychiatry/psychology and is called in as an expert witness. Note: This actor doubles as Saint Thomas, one of the 12 Apostles. • Saint Matthew (20s-40s): Matthew was one of the 12 Apostles, a tax collector, and authored one of the 4 Gospels. Note: This actor doubles as a Roman soldier in a flashback. • Saint Monica (30s-50s): Monica is a very foul-mouthed, no-nonsense kind of saint who isn’t afraid to nag anyone (including God) to get what she wants. Note: This actor doubles as a Roman soldier in a flashback. • Matthias of Galilee (20s-30s): Matthias is an 8-year-old child from Judas’ hometown and one of Judas’ childhood playmates. Note: This actor doubles as Saint Peter (one of the 12 Apostles) and a Roman soldier. Synopsis: "The Last Days of Judas Iscariot tells the story of a court case over the ultimate fate of Judas Iscariot. The play uses flashbacks to an imagined childhood and lawyers who call for the testimonies of such witnesses as Mother Teresa, Caiaphas, Saint Monica, Sigmund Freud, and Satan.
