Join me, as we walk alongside acclaimed Welsh poet, author and playwright Owen Sheers for an unforgettable guided walk exploring the beautiful Skirrid mountain near Abergavenny.
Best known for his award-winning poetry collection Skirrid Hill, Owen will accompany the group throughout the walk, stopping to read selected pieces of his work within the very landscape that inspired much of his writing. 
To hear poetry spoken by the author himself, surrounded by the mountain scenery, history and atmosphere that shaped it, promises to be a truly unique experience.

Owen Sheers is one of Wales’ most celebrated contemporary writers, known nationally for his poetry, novels, BBC documentaries and theatrical productions including The Passion, Pink Mist and The Green Hollow. His work has won numerous awards and reached audiences across the UK and internationally.

The walk itself is approximately 4.5 miles and follows a circular route around and onto the eastern side of the Skirrid, before climbing steadily to the ridge and descending along the mountain spine back towards the start. Although not a long route, the terrain is uneven and can be muddy in places, with a sustained climb requiring a reasonable level of fitness. Good walking boots are essential.
Along the way we’ll enjoy far-reaching views across the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons, autumn colours beginning to appear in the landscape, fascinating local history, and time to pause, reflect and immerse ourselves in both nature and words.
