Join us for a refreshing 4.5-mile circular, (grade Leisurely, see below PDF), walk exploring the beautiful village of Llangattock, one of the Brecon Beaconsβ hidden gems. Sitting peacefully on the banks of the River Usk opposite Crickhowell, Llangattock is steeped in history β even older than its famous neighbour β with an ancient church and timeless village charm.
Weβll begin our route by visiting the historic Llangattock church, before joining the tranquil Brecon to Monmouth canal. From there, weβll follow quiet country lanes, woodland paths, and gentle field tracks, enjoying ever-changing views as we climb to around 220 metres. From this height, weβre rewarded with stunning panoramas of the surrounding mountains and the Usk Valley, including Crickhowell and its beautiful stone bridge below.
Our walk also includes a short section of the Usk Valley Walk, a long-distance route that follows the riverβs journey through some of Walesβ finest countryside. Along the way, weβll take time to stop for packed lunches with a view β a perfect chance to relax, chat, and take in the early spring scenery.
This walk offers a wonderful opportunity to stretch your legs after winter, reconnect with nature, and enjoy the peaceful beauty of the Brecon Beacons National Park β without tackling too much distance or ascent.
