You are all warmly welcomed to 2025 Scottish Packraft Meet! The weekend is an opportunity to meet with and paddle alongside other packrafters at a time when packrafting is seeing huge growth! Organisers for this year are Fraser Kingscott, Karen Webber, Craig Mackellar and David Walsh.
Building on last years feedback, the weekend again is a relaxed informal meet with peer paddling and optional workshops available, but there are a number of new points. The meet is about enjoying our packrafting community together and we ask all members to create a supportive and kind environment for each other.
The meet will again take place at the wonderful Grandtully Station Campsite, next to the river Tay. New for 2025 we have an exclusive booking link to the Grandtully Station Campsite. Booking through this link means all packrafters will be situated with each other. This is primary cost for the weekend (optional workshops at cost). There are tent and camper van pitches. We also have exclusive use of the classroom area for meeting and presentations. In addition, New to this year you will be able to buy a hot breakfast at the campsite!
CAMPSITE BOOKING LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE EVENT. To ensure a space, please book at least 6 weeks ahead of time, after which the campsite will release any free space to the general public. Grandtully Station Campsite is accessible via public transport and car sharing to the meet is encouraged.
New this year, on Friday evening (time to be confirmed) there will be a formal welcome, overview of the weekend and a discussion about grading. This will be a great opportunity to meet others and allow peer planning of trips. New to his year we are going to be using a white board and meeting cones, so people can write up their planned trips, meeting times and cones to create and share peer journeys.
We will not be asking people to lead trips (for reasons of liability, pressure and expectation), but please use the chat for this event to share what you are planning on doing in advance and then again use the white board and meeting cones on the weekend itself.
The campsite location does provide a lot of options for different packraft venues from big and small lochs and rivers from grade 1 to grade 4 all within a 30 minute drive. There are back roads and riverside paths so if zero shuttles or bike rafting is your things then there are lots of options also! So much choice, the planning is up to you! The UK Rivers Guide website has a lot of useful information.
New to this year, we are also offering people the chance to use the classroom to provide presentations of inspirational packrafting journeys. This could be however long you like and we have access to a 72" digital whiteboard on the wall which you can connect to via wifi, hdmi and USB-C. If you would like to do a presentation/talk, please contact Karen Webber
Again a number of providers are expressing interest in delivering workshops at the weekend. Workshops will have limited spaces, a cost and require booking. A workshop booking between you and a provider is separate entity to the organisation of this meet and will have separate booking conditions, safety process and requirements set out by the provider. This workshops will be added to this event once providers have coordinated programmes.
If any packrat manufactures, retailers, packraft course providers are wishing to attend, please contact David Walsh.
Attendance PPE Safety Agreement :
The weekend is a peer meet and you are entirely responsible for all your own decision making and safety.
However, If you are attending the weekend you are also agreeing to bring and use the appropriate safety equipment for the environment you are paddling in. This means at a minimum, using a certified buoyancy aid (not a life-jacket) at all times, a rated paddlesport helmet on the river and leash on open water. We are asking all participants to agree to this not only for personal and group safety, but also because we will be representing the packrafting community. We need to show we understand safety and best practice.
