Helicon was formed by brothers John-Paul and Gary Hughes in East Kilbride, Glasgow, Scotland. Known for the intensity of their live shows, their sound blends psychedelia, electronica, guitars and sitars with a spirit of counter-cultural experimentation. Since signing to Fuzz Club in 2017, their music has featured on BBC Radio 6

Music, and they’ve previously collaborated with Tony Doogan (Mogwai / Delgados / Belle & Sebastian / David Byrne), Will Carruthers (Spacemen 3 / The Brian Jonestown Massacre/ Spiritualized / Dead Skeletons), and Mark Gardener (Ride).

Their 4th studio album, ARISE, a collaboration with LA-based artist and DJ AL Lover, is was released on 13th February.

The band has toured UK/EU regularly over the last 5-6 years including sold out shows in Glasgow, London, Manchester, Paris, Berlin, with show stealing performances at major festivals including Fuzz Club Eindhoven, Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia, Manchester Psych Fest. Edinburgh Psych Fest, Stellar Swamp Fest and Kelburn Garden Party.

Helicon is: John-Paul Hughes, Gary Hughes, Anna McCracken, Graham Gordon, Mike Hastings, Billy Docherty and Seb Jonsen.

Man of Moon 

Since their beginning Man of Moon have been a standout live act. The Glasgow-based duo possess an extraordinary talent for cross-pollinating genres and styles but their sound is not hybridised, rather they are a synthesis of their influences; a pure sonic distillation of what has come before. You hear the mesmeric drones of Mogwai, the dynamic shifts of Radiohead, the harmonic angularity of Tool, the industrial amalgam of Nine Inch Nails, even hints of Pink Floyd’s austere and abstract lyricism. Man of Moon are so much music in one band. And yet they’ve always sounded uniquely themselves; there is deep intentionality in every song’s construction.
