Søndergård og Brantelid - Turné, 20 August | Event in Aalborg | AllEvents.in Søndergård og Brantelid - Turné

ENGLISH VERSION

Experience the Danish premiere of Abrahamsen’s new orchestral work, Carl Nielsen’s Symphony No. 1, and Elgar’s Cello Concerto featuring soloist Andreas Brantelid and with Thomas Søndergård conducting the Royal Danish Orchestra.

Music arises from five elements: fire, earth, wind, water and a fifth element that is more metaphysical in nature – and can either be wood, vegetation or perhaps people. This is how Hans Abrahamsen describes his new orchestral work Vers le silence, which will receive its Danish premiere performed by the Royal Danish Orchestra. The new work highlights the orchestra’s wide scope of musical expression from sweeping symphonies to intimate chamber concerts. Hans Abrahamsen was most recently featured at the Royal Danish Theatre with the opera version of The Snow Queen, which successfully premiered with the Royal Danish Orchestra in 2019.

The season’s first symphonic concert also features Carl Nielsen’s Symphony No. 1 and Edward Elgar’s captivating Cello Concerto featuring Andreas Brantelid as soloist. Both Brantelid and conductor Thomas Søndergård enjoy a special relationship with the Royal Danish Orchestra. Thomas Søndergård began his musical career as a timpanist in the orchestra, and Andreas Brantelid grew up with a father who was a musician in the Royal Danish Orchestra. Brantelid has also previously appeared with the orchestra as a soloist.
