A philosophy graduate student in New York is bitten by a mysterious stranger and begins to experience an insatiable craving that rapidly alters her life. As the changes take hold, she struggles to maintain her friendships, her studies, and her sense of normalcy while coming to terms with the dangerous new urges that drive her to unexpected and sometimes violent behavior. She encounters others affected in similar ways and witnesses the consequences of giving in to this dark hunger, forcing her to confront both the immediate physical dangers and the moral choices that come with her transformation, all while navigating the stark, unrelenting streets of the city that now feel both familiar and threatening.
