The Utica Zombie Walk is an annual event brought to you by two local production companies, Direkt Influence Productions and Microcosm House. Last year was our fourth year, and we greatly exceeded our goals and expectations. We had an estimated attendance of 300-500 participants, and collected over 1500lbs of nonperishable food for the Steven Swan Humane Society of Oneida County and The Feed Our Vets Food Pantry. Accomplished on a minimal budget, it could not have been possible without a lot of hard work and dedication, and the combined efforts of volunteers, the help of the city of Utica, the associated press, and local venue owners. We are excited to have a different start point for this year’s walk, in the heart of downtown Utica. The Stanley, a full restored Mexican-baroque theatre will be our home base.

For those of you that are unclear of what exactly a zombie walk is, we would like to clarify. A zombie walk is simulated Att*ck of the undead on the area. It is an interactive art exhibit, with the participant "zombies" in full makeup and character stumbling and lurching down the street as a massive hoard. It is similar to a flash mob in the aspect that it is coordinated and planned well in advance, and relies on public participation. The goal is a shock-and-awe experience for those not in the know about the walk. It is a scary, safe and unique way to bring the community together. These walks are common in larger cities and we are happy to bring it here to Utica.

This year we are back with confidence, and experience gained from last year's success. This year's walk will have a suggested donation of one non-perishable food item, either pet or human food as the cost of admission to the walk.

We are incredibly excited to bring this unique experience to Utica once again. We need your help to make it possible. Please crawl out of your graves and lurch to our event.

3. No open containers of alcohol on the streets.

4. We ask that all participants stick together as a group, for a higher entertainment and theatrical value. With this said we must also ask that everyone be at the start point and ready to go at the designated time. We do not want to leave any of our undead legion behind, but we will.

5. When you have your makeup applied at the venue, please be respectful of the beautiful venue that is the Stanley. We want to leave it the same as when we arrived: spotless. Please listen to the directions of the makeup artists and volunteer staff during set up.
