St. James Episcopal Church, in conjunction with Bay Area Faith in Action, The Housing Rights Committee San Francisco and other community groups, invite you to join us for Take Back the Day: A Community Action Fair on Inauguration Day, Friday, January 20, 1017.
Recognizing that many people are concerned about the outcome of the recent election, we are creating a space on Inauguration Day for people to express their commitment to peace, justice, and the dignity of every human being. In a time of fear and division, this is an opportunity to experience community and take positive action.
7:30 a.m. Light breakfast available (Parish Hall at St. James)
Grab some coffee, fruit, and a pastry. Share how you're coping on the self-care wall.
8 a.m. - 9 a.m. Facilitated table conversations (Parish Hall at St. James).
This is a safe space to share with others about how the election has affected you, your fears and your hopes for the future.
9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Community Action Fair (Courtyard of St. James).
A variety of organizations will provide information about volunteer opportunities and organizing efforts to protect and defend civil rights, immigrant communities, the social safety net, and the environment.
The church also will be open for quiet prayer and meditation.
Opportunities for letter writing will be available.
St. James is on California between 8th and 9th Avenue. The closest bus is the 1, but the 2, 28, 28R, 33, 38/38R, and 44 are all near.
