A Truly Unique Photographic Experience... Sign me up!

This is a photographic journey across the Saskatchewan heartland where our focus will be drawn to the mystery, sense of loss, and unexpected beauty found in iconic prairie structures. Grain elevators, homesteads, barns, churches (including the Ukrainian onion-domed variety), mills, railroads, bridges, storefronts, salvage yards, ... where do you even begin! An essential collection of images to be had that grants permanence to places that will eventually fade out and crumble.

The fields of prairies are the soil of our immigrant history. Those immigrants left foreign homelands and planted themselves in fresh earth. They became a hybrid, adapted to vastness and climate. They stayed, and with hope, stubbornness, endurance, and sometimes cruelty, they rewrote a landscape. Now there are towns scattered throughout the province that are mere husks, their seeds gone to the city. Yet these towns are not so much decaying as subsiding, having risen briefly in a world of railroads and kerosene. Some are finding new levels and people with new reasons to live there. We'll travel to sites that are in-between these stages of time.

Objective: A huge part of your goal as "photographer" is to make people pause, and linger over a photograph.

This field workshop will build your photography skills step-by-step guiding you through several aspects of digital photography with demonstrations, lessons, practical assignments, and Q&As to help you understand and use your camera to its full capacity. Choose your own pace to advance through the workshop as you explore a wide range of genres --- the program is completely customizable to your schedule. As you progress through the program, test your new knowledge and troubleshoot common issues. Find out how to properly shoot landscapes, portraits, still life, and action shots all the while you discover the full range of your camera and learn how to take professional-looking pictures you'll be proud to display. All in all, this multi-day comprehensive resource will be full of unforgettable experiences, with the logistics taken care of.
