Paris has a vibrant theatre scene which extends from theatres to festivals. Paris Fringe Festival is a 10 day festival of theatre, dance, comedy, magic, poetry, song and more with over 20 different events ranging from full shows to workshops and readings across multiple venues like Les Feux de la Rampe, Theatre Gymnase, schools, restaurants, a library, gallery and more. Festival d’Automne à Paris or Paris Autumn Festival has been supporting artists by producing, presenting and promoting their work. It is a multi-disciplinary programme comprising theatre, music, dance, visual arts and cinema and is dedicated to the contemporary arts and convergence of different disciplines. Among the theatre shows in Paris, “Maya - A voice, a way” at Mona Bismarck American Centre is a remarkable one. An African-American writer and poet who fought alongside Martin Luther King and Malcolm X during the civil rights movement in the United States, Maya Angelou is considered an iconic voice for women and minorities around the world. The Paris-Villette Theater, earlier called Theater Present aims to unite the artistic energies and address families, adults, children and teenagers. This theatre in Paris has three halls namely, the Great Hall, the White Room and the Blue Room with a seating capacity of 200, 60 and 30 respectively. The Fontaine Theater, a historic monument with Italian architecture, was launched in theatre with a series of sketches, and eventually became a theatre showcasing musicals and plays. Petit Theatre Paris is yet another theatre which is relatively much smaller in its size with a capacity of about 25 people and mostly showcases plays and stand-up comedy.
