This event was inspired by my brother, Steve Marlette, who passed away in April, 2012. I have a bit of his clothing and thought, what better way to honor his memory than to give it to others in need. For a period of time, Steve was homeless himself in Fullerton.
Working with a wonderful group of people, we decided to make it a clothing and food drive, to be held the first Saturday of every month.
We will have a special request for an additional item each month. For November, with the cold weather approaching, it will be for blankets.
We are not sending the items out of Fullerton to be distributed. Instead, people will be able to receive items right there. This is especially helpful for those who don't have the means to get to the centers that provide such things.
In addition, we would like to hand out sandwiches and water as well as personal hygiene kits. We could use contributions towards thiese (bread for sandwiches, water...a box of razors, shaving cream, mini bottles of shampoo, soap, toothpaste/brush, deodorant, female products, etc}.
All donations are greatly appreciated. Assistance is also welcomed. We are not any type of organization. We're just people helping people.
