The Bullock Hotel

Seth Bullock, an entrepreneur at heart, decided to rebuild his hardware store that burned down in 1894, in the new reincarnation of a desirable luxury hotel for its time and locale. Bullock’s fame originates from his stare, a great trait to have in law enforcement, and from his friendship with President Theodore Roosevelt, whom he survived by about 8 months. Seth passed away in room 211 at the Bullock and it is said he is still wandering the halls. Let’s meet him!

We have the second floor reserved for the paranormal investigation on Thursday. If you are brave – you can stay at the Bullock.

IMPORTANT: When calling to reserve a room say your with the Paranormal Event to get 2nf floor, DO NOT BOOK ON LINE THEY ARE RESERVED FOR US.. Anyone who wants to stay in Haunted rooms know we will be investigating them on Thrusday. No valuables in room during Thrusday Investigation. We will wake up the Ghost fir your sleep l.

The Historic Adams House

On Friday, we have after-hour access to the Historic Adams House. Built by Harris and Anna Franklin in 1892, William Emery (W.E.) Adams purchased the home in 1920, and tragedy struck in 1925. William lost his family. Life’s faith made him cross paths with a young woman named Mary. Their courtship apparently was considered scandalous at the time, yet Mary honored his wishes of preserving history throughout her life until 1993. Today, the Adams House is under the direction of Deadwood History, Inc. and legend has it that William is making sure history is being preserved.

The Fairmont- Fri and Sat (all 3 floors)

Claimed to be the most haunted hotel, the building is an 1898-Victorian and served as brothel, bar and gambling hall and was located in the heart of the redlight (Bad Lands) district on lower Main Street. Despite the owner’s willingness to restore the upper building back to its former glory, resident spirits seem to object although in good spirits as previous owner Ron attested.

This one will makethe hair onyourneck stand up, the manager has said guest expereince horrible smells, being scratched, sick to your stomach and even guest being pushed!

Are you brave enough to handle what lies in the basement of The Fairmount Hotel?

As seen on Ghost Adventures, and Dead Files now you can see what they have seen.

Today, you may have dinner served at the Fairmont. Try it before or after the paranormal investigation.

The Brothel Deadwood

Experience the 104-year history of prostitution in Deadwood after hours. The brothel is located at 610 Main Street. The building originates back to 1903 and was operated until May 21, 1980, when it was raided! And closed for good.

Al Swearingen and his “Gem Theatre” establishment may be better known, but it didn’t survive. Many more madams ran cat houses in and around Deadwood and including Madam Dora DuFran, Mert O’Hara, and Gertrude Bell.

Mt Moriah Cemetery

Experience the resting places of Wild Bill, Calamity Jane, Potato Creek Johnny, the Franklin’s, Seth Bullock, Dora DuFran, Precher Smith's headstone. Will he visit with us? He is buried just outside Deadwood, with a marker off Hwy 85 on the way to Spearfish. And so many children. The Cemetery also has three Potters’ fields with unmarked graves of the early-day impoverished and fallen women. Civil and Indian War veterans have their own section, too.

Event Logistics

Check-in/Registration is

  • Thursday – at the Bullock Hotel,
  • Friday – at the Adams House, and
  • Saturday – at the Brothel

Paranormal Event Weekend Passholders and Attendees of individual paranormal events, please check in by at least 30 minutes prior to the event’s start to register, get your tickets, and other useful information and maps.

While we list time slots, time is different in ghost towns. Time is relative! We will work with the time and make the time work for you and will go on the ghost hunting vibe in the room. We, and that includes you the attendee, are investigating, listening, immersed, and if we are having fun, why stop! So don't worry too much about the time slots. Each individual event will be at least 2 to 3 hours of ghost investigations. Depending on participation levels, we'll have groups investigating in parallel at different spots and will rotate as appropriate or simply move to another spot.

At each event/time slot, attendees are clustered into smaller groups. At some of the spots, an attendee may choose to get blindfolded and be alone! Whether alone in a room or with fellow attendees, the size of the buildings will make you feel alone.

We have all the latest ghost equipment. Multiples of SLS, SB7, Modified K-2 meter, IR cameras, night vision-DNA spirit boxes and more. We will supply all equipment needed for the paranormal investigation. However, if you would like to get your own and bring, visit www.ghostshunter.com. If you have your own ghost hunting tools and want to bring them, absolutely bring them.

Attention Out-of-Towners: Spring may be in the air, not so much in the Dakota Mountains nights, though. Yes, Deadwood is in the mountains! Remember, temperatures drop quickly once the sun is beyond the horizon, and it can get rather cold especially if the breeze kicks up. Dress in layers, check the weather.

But wait, you may ask – how do we fill the whole weekend? Easy!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Are paranormal investigators and/or YouTubers welcome?

Absolutely, come and experience! The only limitation is NO LIVE STREAMING DURING THE EVENTS. If you are a paranormal investigator, let us know, we may have a private room or location available for you. Email us beforehand and remind us at check-in.

What does the Paranormal Weekend Pass include?

We want for you to get the most enjoyment out of the weekend pass. We structure the program such that each day of the weekend contains distinct highlights. The weekend pass allows you to select the most optimal times for you each day. For instance, you may opt for the twilight event on Thursday, the 9 PM event on Friday and finish with 730 PM event on Saturday. Options are plentiful, make it your own.

Does the event include much or strenuous walking?

The walking during the event will be limited. However, changing locations may involve travel by your car or on foot, your choice.

Does the event include climbing stairs or walking on uneven grounds?

Yes, not much but we will be in historic buildings which have uneven, warped floors, irregular stairs and potential tripping hazards. We strive to make this a safe and pleasurable experience but will unfortunately not be able to accommodate walkers or wheelchairs. If unsure of your footing, make sure to bring a safety buddy. We do have stairs (23) to get to the Brothel (on the second floor), and there are stairs to the 2nd floor of the Adams House.

Will other buildings be open?

Possibly. Deadwood building owners are in-tune with the paranormal and may offer tours for a fee. Do your research beforehand.

Can I bring my kid(s)?

Yes, you can. We suggest starting with the twilight tours. This allows a gentle introduction to communicating with the past. Remember kids typically have more empathy and may find situations scarier than we perceive. You know your child; you be the judge. We kindly request, though, that you are with your child at all times. Old buildings have many unknown hazards and we’d like nothing more than that everyone stays safe.

Is there medical nearby in case of emergency?

Deadwood is a small town and has a hospital and clinic in Deadwood. Emergency services are available. Please come informed and prepared if this is a consideration.
