Come out and enjoy a night of great music and dance the night away with Mama Cutsworth and her most recent DJ school graduates!
The XX Factor: Women on the Wheels of Steel event is a fundraiser for West Central Women's Resource Center, featuring Mama Cutsworth and will showcase a number of new women DJs that she has been mentoring.
Saturday, March 3 at the Lo Pub.
Doors at 9:00pm.
Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased in advance at the Lo Pub, WCWRC and Organic Planet.
All the funds raised from this event will be used to support WCWRC’s drop-in program. The drop-in is an integral part of WCWRC programming. In 2010, there were close to 18,000 visits to the drop-in. Lunch is served three times a week to an average of 50 women per day. There is always hot coffee and snacks available and there are shower and laundry facilities on site. Women also have access to a phone, computer and a photocopier in the drop-in space. All of these services are provided to community women free of charge.
Since WCWRC’s move to its new home at 640 Ellice St. the drop-in has seen a large increase in traffic. It is the heart of the centre and women repeatedly say that they find the space welcoming, warm and friendly.
Each day, the West Central Women’s Resource Centre provides support to over 60 women. In ten years, WCWRC has helped to empower women to succeed through programs such as job skills training, housing support, parenting skills and self-esteem building.
