BACKGROUND
The 2011 Flood Season displaced many First Nation people, due to rising waters around the Province of Manitoba. Many were relocated to the City of Winnipeg, taking refuge in hotels, while others stayed with friends and family.
We have been striving to provide the best to our clients since then, and that is when we created the MANFF Recreation Program. The program is in place to ensure that the Youth have extra-curricular activities to take part in, where they otherwise may not have activities to preoccupy themselves with. It is a great program and the kids love it, but there is no funding allocated towards the MANFF Recreation program.
Since we are a non-profit organization, we currently seek donations and/or “freebies” from nearby businesses and venues so that the kids can attend various events around the City of Winnipeg. If there are no donations or free events, then there are no activities. This presents a challenge, and it sparked the idea of holding a fundraiser, where 100% of proceeds will go towards this cause.
