Did you miss out on the science fair last year? Why don't you cry about it? And then, why don't you make a science fair project about crying about it for this year's science fair?
Of course, that is but one of many beautiful ideas we at Fairly Scientific imagine you could bring to the table. Last year's entries saw a range of raw and edgy projects, from trying to generate electricity from spam in orange tang, to paper mache modellings of the early universe, to a supercomputer. This year, we expect the genius and creativity of Winnipeggers to surprise and amaze us again.
More specific details will follow, but for now, if you are interested in participating, please email fairly.scientific@gmail.com right now! One issue we encountered last year was that people wanted to do an idea, but either couldn't decide on which one was best, or didn't keep up to date with working on it, so they scrambled with a week to go. This year, we hope to get progress reports from people as we go, offering encouragement and ideas through a weekly email list. Never doubt that a small, committed group of people can change the world through continually nagging others to finish their science fair projects. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.
There are 3 main ways you can participate in Fairly Scientific this year:
1. Make a project. The only major rule is that it has to be explained on a tri-fold backing board (which we may be able to obtain for you as well).
2. Make a volcano for the separate volcano contest, which was a red hot success last year.
3. Show up and enjoy the event.
