Dear Peggy: New Winnipeg Folklore | hannah_g
The Manitoba Historical Society Dalnavert Museum
Thursday 23rd February | 7pm doors | 7.30pm performance | $10
Places are limited and advance booking is strongly recommended. Why do Winnipeggers always flick two pennies into the water when crossing the Redwood Bridge? Ever heard of the Gimli Ice Dances? On which of the rivers might the buttons on your jacket pop off unexpectedly? All will be revealed when The Dalnavert Museum proudly presents a performance by hannah_g to celebrate the book and tape launch of Dear Peggy, a limited edition collection of her stories.
Over the last three years, hannah has created folklore in response to some of the places, people, and objects she has happened upon in Winnipeg. Melancholy, absurd, credible, and wry: the stories reflect the character of a city she has come to love despite herself.
hannah_g gratefully acknowledges the generous support of the Manitoba Arts Council for this project.
