The Material Culture Project is a collection of Ian’s compositions. Influences range from Ellington & Strayhorn, Mary Lou Williams to the sound of the New Orleans second line. Musicians mentored through Miles Davis as well as Art Blakey can also be heard in his writing. The compositions are adventurous, honest and extremely listenable.
