Former Vancouver Province film critic David Spaner, author of Dreaming in the Rain: How Vancouver Became Hollywood North by Northwest, has just released his second book, ‘Shoot It! Hollywood Inc. and the Rising of Independent Film’, which is really two books in one: first, a history of the Hollywood movie studio system since the early 20th century which produced some of the greatest American films ever made, and its subsequent downfall; and second, a history of independent film scenes in seven different countries, which now produce the most creative and provocative films in the world, much to Hollywood’s chagrin.
David will be reading an excerpt from his new book during the show and selling & signing copies before and after the screening. http://www.arsenalia.com/david-spaner-on-his-new-book-shoot-it/
