One day acting intensive taught by

L.A. based Canadian actor and coach

Michael D. Cohen Auditioning for and acting in American television comedy is different than its Canadian counterpart. Learn more about what the networks, producers and casting directors are looking for, and how to make acting choices that respect the writers yet make you stand out. This is a hands-on workshop in which actors will work scenes from current U.S. comedy casting breakdowns. Scenes will be assigned to participants in advance of the workshop.

You will learn techniques to:

* Analyze a scene for comedy

* Nail the jokes, tone and pacing

* Create characters that stand out

* Heighten the stakes without being over the top

* Bring your truth, aliveness and playfulness to the role!

We'll review the differences between: Multi vs. single camera sit-coms, cable vs. network, co-star vs. guest star vs. recurring role and more...

Bio:

Michael D. Cohen is a Gemini and Canadian Comedy Award nominated actor and acting coach who has been based in Los Angeles since 2006. His television comedy credits include Modern Family, Michael: Tuesdays & Thursdays, Wizards of Waverly Place, and My Name is Earl among others. He teaches on-camera comedy and cold reading at the SAG Hollywood Conservatory at the AFI, conducts regular workshops and seminars for AFTRA Hollywood, and coaches private clients internationally. He has a Masters in Adult Education from the University of Toronto with a focus on performance and human potential.
