I invite you to Toronto Operetta Theatre's second major production of the 2011 – 2012 season, as the Canadian history comes to life in Taptoo! Commemorating the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_1812, Taptoo! is set during the unstable period between the American Revolution and the War of 1812. It is a fun musical exploration bringing to life a thrilling tale of the founding of the city of York which is now Toronto.
*****If operettas and musicals are completely not your thing, please private message me and I will not send you invites to TOT performances in the future.*****
Below is some interesting information on the history and musical history behind Taptoo!: http://www.utoronto.ca/mcis/hi/PDF/ElliottR_1130.pdf

As some of you know, since last year, I have been volunteering on the board of the Toronto Operetta Theatre (TOT). TOT, founded in 1985, is a critically acclaimed non-for-profit operetta company which has produced nearly 60 major productions since its inception. Currently, TOT performs 3 major productions and several concerts annually. TOT provides great production quality and excellent value for the cost (we’ve done comparisons). The performers range from talented young artists to experienced and internationally recognised musical theatre, opera and operetta singers.
Operettas are the predecessors of musicals. They combine singing, uplifting music (may still play in your head afterwards), occasional dancing and comedy of the musicals with the original scores and the sophistication of the operas. Difference from the operas: no one dies at the end!
