BUDDY LEWIS ENTERTAINMENT Presents: Streets of Sesame
SATURDAY FEBRUARY 25, 2012
The new independent music series devoted to bringing together Great Bands with Great Venues and Great People. This is our official launch of BUDDY LEWIS ENTERTAINMENT and we are very excited about the participation and interest in our vision for the music scene here in Toronto. Over the last year we have been collecting some of the best independent musicians this city has to offer, to feature in our new music series "Streets of Sesame".
Each band we feature has a distinctly unique sound and gives it their all at every performance. We are dedicated to bringing you the best this city has to offer.
For our first line up we bring you these three amazing bands...
SONS OF DAUGHTERS - 10:00pm - 11:00pm
http://www.facebook.com/Sonsofdaughtersband
If you like music, we play it. Sons of Daughters is the fossilized chrome-coated incest love child of sounds that prevail within the depths of mother earth's gut. Spawned from organic basement jam sessions, our sonic concoctions have begun to finally take shape. We do birthdays, weddings, bar mitzvahs, funerals, corporate events, luncheons, mud wrestling matches, family reunions, and weekend getaways to the country.
FITNESS - 11:15pm - 12:15pm
http://www.facebook.com/fitnessdisco
Songwriter and vocalist Sean Ban Beaton has helped shape these songs into something intangibly dynamic and provocative, communicating grand themes from a raw and personal point of view. Previous performance highlights include nearly 4 years as Eddie in the hit musical Mamma Mia, and working with indie favourites, the Hidden Cameras. Teamed with co-vocalist Nicki Ramjass, their call-and-answer antics add an element of raw spontaneity and performance art to the stage show. Drummer James Miller and bassist/guitarist Damon Shannan-Lovell fill out the rhythm section admirably with a high-energy intensity you would expect from a band called FITNESS. And with Sahra Ucar on keys, the whole machine runs smoothly.
FITNESS does the body good - pass it on!
DINOSAUR DINOSAUR - 12:30pm - 1:30am
http://www.facebook.com/dinodinoband
A three piece residing in Toronto, Dinosaur Dinosaur happily wallows in that grey area between distinct contrasts. The lines between high tech and lo-fi, tension and relaxation, distortion and melody are all subject to a dedicated seriousness and a gleeful embrace of the banal.
Despite the above paragraph, the band would like to maintain that there is really only one truly pretentious member, one who is not in the slightest and a third who simply has a gift for the big words. Comprising of an absolutely ancient drum machine; a fairly complex synthesizer; one bass; one guitar; that darn melodica and several home-made and store-bought delay pedals, Dinosaur Dinosaur formed in its current incarnation in August 2009. Between James Mulligan’s walls of sonic distortion, Zain Jafry’s frenetic bass attacks and Helen Androlia’s vocal melodrama, they have been quickly amassing a following with their hypnotic live performances; a sound that they are hoping to reproduce as they begin recording their debut EP in early 2011. And yes, before you ask, they do really like dinosaurs.THE OPERA HOUSE
