REGGAE LOVERS:
For the first time ever, Duane Stephenson and Live Wyya tour the Western U.S. as headliners, after years of work on the road with other reggae artists. They will perform two distinct sets. From August Town, Jamaica is singer/songwriter, Duane Stephenson, whose debut VP Records' release, FROM AUGUST TOWN was heralded by Billboard magazine as "galvanizing a roots reggae revival," with "lyrics that convey romantic longings and the anguish of ghetto realities with equal conviction." In high demand on prestigious stages around the globe, Mr. Stephenson's songwriting, live presentation and work with the World Food Programme, highlight the urgent issues of the world's most under-served communities.
From Ocho Rios, Jamaica come Live Wyya, making their first U.S appearance in celebration of their debut release, SPREAD THE LOVE, released on the new Culture Yard Records imprint based in Seattle, WA. After logging several tour commitments with the likes of the late Gregory Isaacs and backing the majority of the most popular singers in Jamaica, they now step into the forefront with their new release. In 2011 they were deemed Jamaica’s number one band, winning the 2011 Excellence in Music and Entertainment award (EME) as best instrumental group with vocals, voted on by fans globally. A high-energy performance, in an ensemble form reminiscent of '70's R&B bands, is in store from Live Wyya.
