Children today are very aware of the imminent threat to tigers from poachers and from the loss of their jungles. We hope, respectfully, to remind adults to protect and preserve this vital heritage for generations unborn. As always, a key focus for Kids for Tigers will be to “protect the protectors” by winning public support for our brave forest guards and others working to save wild tigers on a daily basis. In the process, virtually all plants and animals that share the tiger’s habitat will receive protection.
With this spirit of wildlife conservation, Kids for Tigers, Pune along with the Vasundhara International Film Festival 2012 and with ‘Sakal’ newspaper group, is organising a ‘Tiger Rally’, the purpose of which will be to raise awareness about the importance of saving the tiger and its forests on Saturday, February 25th 2012.
Maharashtra is home to four Project Tiger - Tiger Reserves, therefore, the children of Pune cannot sit quietly while its forests, wetlands and hills are being destroyed, striped cats driven to extinction and water sources compromised. In 2012, Kids for Tigers and Kirloskar - Vasundhara International Film Festival, will take the voice of Pune’s young students to the government to encourage them to protect tiger forests and the many rivers they harbour. We look forward to working with you to mentor our young leaders.
As a part of this rally, we are happy to announce the following competitions for which there will be prizes for the first two winners:
1. Placard / Slogan Designing Competition.
2. Fancy-dress Competition.
3. Face painting competition.
All participating kids will be awarded with participating certificates and there are handsome prizes for the winners in each of the above competitions.
