W.E.B DU BOIS, AFRICANA STUDIES AND THE HUMAN FUTURE:A SYMPOSIUM
FEBRUARY 24, 25 2012
The symposium will take place on the weekend of W.E.B Du Bois’ birthday February 24 AND 25, 2012. This will be the 144th anniversary of his birth. This two-day symposium will examine issues of theory, research and activism within African American Studies. It will bring together outstanding researchers and thinkers to look at the works of Du Bois and how they shape African American Studies in the 21st Century. The symposium will consist of six panels that will be followed by discussions in a town-all meeting format. Along with scholars and academics there will be activists from areas dealing with education, criminal justice, unemployment and the Black church.
