EXCITER
Beginning their legendary status with the release of 1983’s classic debut, “Heavy Metal Maniac”, Canadian thrash metal legends, EXCITER, burst onto the scene and instantly made a mark on the metal world. Their mark of metal excellence has continued for 28 years to the present day with the band’s current release, “Death Machine” (Massacre Records).
The band is led by founding guitarist, John Ricci, who picked up the reigns in 1996 and has forged on ever since. The current line-up is rounded out by drummer, Rik Charron, bassist, Rob “Clammy” Cohen, and vocalist, Kenny “Metal Mouth” Winter.
Exciter’s impressive history is proven through countless albums that have defined their importance on the scene including classic releases like 1984’s “Violence and Force” and 1985’s “Long Live the Loud”, into the 90’s with 1996’s “The Dark Command” and 2000’s “Blood of Tyrants”, through to newer albums with 2008’s “Thrash Speed Burn” and the 2010’s “Death Machine”. As a touring force in the 80’s, Exciter headlined across the US with Megadeth in support, and also toured with the likes of other legends, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Anthrax and Mercyful Fate, among others. Since the late 90’s, John Ricci has led Exciter across the globe with performances at major festivals like Wacken Open Air, Bang Your Head Festival, Keep It True Festival, as well as multiple European tours, and a tour of South America in 2011.
In 2011 and 2012, Exciter moves ahead with plans for increased touring activity in North America, Europe, South America, and Asia. Long live the loud indeed!
SHUNT
Scott Cameron (guitar), Raphael "Raph" Storto (drums), and James "Bob" Cave (vocals) formed the Ottawa, Canada band Sinister Sam in 1993. The addition of Shane Brouse (bass) in 1994 led to the renaming of the band to SHUNT in 1996.
Tool / A Perfect Circle / Puscifer vocalist Maynard James Keenan helped pick the band name.
The band released THE SHUNT EP, their six-song début in 1996. The EP was recorded in Ottawa and produced by Furnaceface guitarist and independent producer, Marty Jones.
The band appeared on The Tom Green Show. They played with, and opened for Melvins, Voivod, Annihilator, and Varga. The band was recognized by Toronto radio station Q107 as being one of the four best independent rock bands in Ontario and enjoyed top-of-the-metal-chart international success on MP3.com.
The band broke up in late 2000. Brouse moved to Los Angeles where he played with Canadian artists Lister and Miranda Frigon. Storto toured with ex-Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor. Cameron is an active Ottawa-area musician. Cave has recorded as Robertson Thomas and continues to stay musically active through work with his family.
After an 11 year "break", the original SHUNT line-up reunited on Sat 29-Oct-11 in Ottawa and continues to record and perform.
