The next Once Upon A Slam will feature Alan Shain. - actor, storyteller, stand up comic, dancer and disability rights activist. He has toured extensively across North America, as well as to England, Australia and in 2008 to Taiwan. For his slam feature, Alan will be performing his stand up material. A hysterical rebuff at public attitudes to disability, he attempts to answer such burning questions as “Do wheelchair-people ever go to the bathroom?”, “Are all wheelchair-people related to each other?”, and “Do they ever think about sex?” You’ll probably learn just a little bit more from Alan’s comedy than you ever wanted to know!!

As usual, in addition to the feature, we have the actual story slam. There are 8 spots open for slammers who each get 5 minutes to tell (not read!) their story. The 5 judges, who are randomly selected from the audience, will score each story and the highest score wins.

Doors open and slam sign up at 6:45, show at 7:15 PM

$8 cover, free for slammers.

Unfortunately this venue is not wheelchair accessible. The main entrance has two flights of stairs. There is an alternative entrance through the Rideau Centre parking garage which has four stairs. However, the path is through a storage area and is extremely narrow. Please message me for more information.
