A conversation designed and facilitated by Black youth for Black youth, young adults and adults to empower themselves to be active in the discovery, manifestation, and articulation of their visions for themselves, Black communities, and the World!Join us as we explore conversations about "black identity". We assert there is no rule book to blackness! We look to transform the understands of there being rules to racial identity such that we can feel "proud to be Black but don't have to be limited by identity and boxed in by race"-- Toure ,Who's Afraid of Post Blackness?
Once again, we are partnering with OneMatch. Did you know that fewer than 30% of patients will find a compatible donor within their family? The remaining 70% rely on the generosity of others. There are currently 42 Black patients looking for a stem cell match from an unrelated donor but only .7% of the people on the registry are identified as people of African descent. Their best chance for survival will come from an unrelated donor match from their ethnic group. That’s why there’s OneMatch, Canada’s stem cell and marrow network. Right now, there is a special need for ethnic males who are aged 17 – 35, in good heatlh and willing to donate to any patient in need. On both days of our event, we will be hosting SWAB events and representatives from OneMatch will be on site to meet and educate the community.
