It's 1939 and legendary producer David O. Selznick has shut down the production of his latest epic, Gone with the Wind. The screenplay just doesn't work. Selznick sends a car for famed screenwriter Ben Hecht and pulls director Victor Fleming from the set of The Wizard of Oz, in a last ditch effort to rewrite the screenplay and save the film. His plan: lock them in his office for five days until he feels confident in the script. Over the course of a workweek and for the cost of their sanity, the three men fashion a screenplay that becomes a blueprint for the most successful film of all time.

Nick Klemp (David O. Selznick) is an enrollment specialist.
Jeffrey Mangieri (Victor Fleming) is a banker.
Joseph Lake Guffey (Ben Hecht) works in production.
Julia M. Kolsrud (Miss Poppenghul) just took the Arizona Bar exam.
J. Douglas Guffey (Security/Mr. Quigley) lives in LA and specializes in lighting and lifting sandbags.
Eric Dern, a gentleman AND a scholar (Nunnally Johnson/Leland Hayward) is into financials and a master of voices.
