Since 2003, Tom Cole has been US Representative for Oklahoma's 4th congressional district, an area covering a huge portion of our state. He has consistently voted against positions supported by senior citizens lobbies, labor unions, and teachers' unions - a record that finds him supporting big business over middle- and working-class interests. No surprise that his largest campaign contributors in 2010 were big oil & gas companies, lobbyists, and huge commercial banks – the very institutions he subsequently voted to bail out, while voting against provisions that would make excessive bonuses and so-called “golden parachutes” illegal.
It is time to unseat Tom Cole.
Donna Bebo means progress for Oklahoma. By keeping her campaign free of corporate cash, Donna has decided to show the leadership she knows we expect in Washington – transparent and accountable.
As an Army wife, Donna recognizes the sacrifices the men and women in our military make; as a working mother, she knows the sacrifices working people make every single day. These sacrifices – these gifts to our community – are what make America great. Donna is committed to upholding our duty to our veterans and wounded warriors; she supports expanding access to education and employment for veterans, helping them make the transition to successful civilian life.
Donna believes that spending smarter – not more – is the key to jumpstarting the financial recovery. Small business and the working class are the backbone of our economy; Donna believes in investing in education and infrastructure, not corporate banks that fight to turn our elections in their own auctions.
Donna will vote to end the Bush-era tax cuts for millionaires that the non-partisan Center for Budget and Policy Priorities calls the single largest contributor to the nation's public debt. She believes tax incentives should favor businesses that keep jobs on American soil – not outsourced to countries that lack environmental and labor regulation. She opposes Tom Cole's support of Paul Ryan's budget – a budget that slashes Medicaid and Medicare coverage for seniors, children, and the poor. For Tom Cole, a member of the House Budget Committee, to support a budget that is being denounced nationwide for ignoring recommendations by the federal deficit commission is not only ridiculous – it is heartless. Donna will fight to preserve Social Security, Medicare, and other provisions won by years of progressive action.
Donna believes in Constitutional principles and individual liberty. She believes that all Americans deserve to live a life free from discrimination. That's why she'll push to expand protection for the rights of minorities, the poor, LGBTQ persons, and the handicapped. She pledges fierce opposition to legislation that restricts Constitutional rights. She is a supporter of the 2nd Amendment.
On Sunday, 3 June, Donna's Cleveland County coordinators will play host to a meet-and-greet session to discuss the issues at hand. We'll be having a raffle, silent art auction, and musical guests.
