Barakka is Philadelphia's own multi-ethnic group specializing in Turkish folk-rock with a mix of eastern and western instrumentation. Their repertoire features unique original pieces by singer-guitarist Baris Kaya, as well as innovative interpretations of traditional Turkish folk music. Deeply emotional songwriting and world-class musicianship are trademarks of this band’s powerful performances.
Instrumentation includes William Tayoun (keyboards), Joseph Tayoun (darbuka), Roger Mgrdichian (Oud), Jim Hamilton (drums), and Chris Marashlian (Bass)
