STAR and Amnesty International SLEEP OUT

STAR and Amnesty International society of man uni are inviting YOU to join us for an exciting night!

We will be sleeping out (yes outside) one night only in support of the STILL HUMAN STILL HERE campaign to end the destitution of asylum seekers. They are the most unjustly treated group of society: they get lower financial support (£35 a week!), undergo a ruthless legal process and throughout are under threat of being detained and deported. Those that don't get refugee status have no other recourse than to live on the streets so fearful are they of returning to their homecountry.

Our question is: why is Britain 'welcoming' asylum seekers onto its streets?

And its not just us students making a stand but people across Manchester from local MPs, refugee organisations, asylum seekers, refugees to the general public. ANYONE is welcome to be part of this movement to change the govt's attitude towards asylum seekers.

BUT this night is not for wallowing in gloom but to bring some light and hope to the thousands of asylum seekers struggling in Britain. What better way than to make our night of solidarity filled with an abundance of food, music, circus fun and creativity. And of course there will be many speakers from refugee charities to remind us of what we are shivering for....

So get your winter gear and a sleeping bag ready for Manchester's second SLEEP OUT!

(we had 50 ppl sleep out last time, lets see if we can smash that record)

xx see you soon x
