It’s the ones who turn the other way and swim against this tide of trend who ultimately prove themselves far and beyond their geographic peers. Cyril Snear are one of a pocketful of disparate, seemingly nomadic British experimental bands – though in fact based in Manchester – who just seemed to appear from nowhere.
They exist for nothing and no one else, content to lurk in the margins, to push, probe and satisfy their need for sonic exploration. Raising their heads occasionally to play support slots with the likes of Manchester’s great purveyors of noise Amplifier and Kong, they largely eschew the unfulfilling toil of endless bar room opening slots, only surfacing when they’ve sculpted and moulded the latest stage of their chameleonic space-rock.
“Weighty without being heavy-handed and intelligent without being preachy, Cyril Snear make absorbing indie rock as capable of firing the synapses as it is of thrilling the heart. They are startling, sparkling and never ever dull – and who could want more from a band than that?” [Chris Long BBC Radio Manchester]
“This is a band seemingly unconstrained by adherence to any one genre. Cyril Snear manage something you don't see very often – a truly individual sound which is absorbingly magnificent” [Manchestermusic.co.uk]Always The Quiet Ones

Always The Quiet Ones is a five-piece alt rock band formed in Liverpool in December 2010.
With the release of their sophomore EP, the band embarked on a series of frenetic live shows supporting such artists as Deaf Havana, Mojo Fury, Axis Of and Turbogeist, quickly garnering notoriety from fans and critics alike. The band has since received extensive airplay on Kerrang! (Alex Baker), XFM (Ian Camfield), Q Radio (Pete Bailey) and Total Rock whilst lead single/video ‘Freak Show’ entered at #12 in Vidzone's Rockzone chart and later featured on the Ones To Watch 2012 playlist.
Looking ahead to the upcoming release of the ‘Drought’/’Ghost in the Filament’ double A-side single (April 2012), the future is full of promise for the aspiring five.
"It’s heavy, melodic and catchy; it’s something that Biffy Clyro used to do in their earlier albums, except these guys do it better. They rip up the rule book and have created something special that won’t leave the listener short-changed" [Graeme Williams – Circlepit.tv]
"Turned down is the post-2000 arbitrarily jagged style and turned up is the rock; it's like 1992 again. Except it's not, because there's lots of texture, atmospherics, math turns, post-rock turns and just really interesting s**t thrown into the song structures to show you that it's a thoroughly contemporary sound. The venue's also filled up and it's been possibly four years since I've seen a room this full to see an unsigned rock band." [Alex Lynham – whatismusicuk.blogspot.com]Black Market Serotonin

Unashamedly progressive rock, this young band effortlessly merge challenging, multi-part songs and structural playfulness with compelling, hook-laden alt rock. They take loud guitars, dirty synths and an important focus on strong songwriting to create modern rock music that is melodically powerful and forward thinking.
Think Muse meets Porcupine Tree, via the electro-industrial of NIN and Vex Red.
"Hopefully bands such as Black Market Serotonin will soon be acknowledged and praised for what they are: rock bands with a surfeit of ideas, minds open to all possible outcomes and the passion to turn them into music with authentic depth and power"[Dom Lawson, Classic Rock Presents: Prog]
"Fans experimenting with new music will enjoy this EP and the band quite thoroughly. I will expect this band to do big things in the next couple of years. I see no real reason for people to dislike this...5/5" [Beard Rock]
“Skyscraping, ambitious and frankly intellectual rock” [Manchestermusic.co.uk]
