Pay-what-you-like; £3 suggested. Now Then Manchester presents an early evening of comedy across varying styles, from improv (ComedySportz) to sketches (The Tourists, Him and Me).The Tourists
The Tourists’ cocktail of quirky and surreal sketches has been fermented and distilled from the juices of their collective psyche, shaken with a hint of popular culture and served chilled. This Anglo-American comedy collective is building on 2011’s successes and fast becoming Manchester's most talked about sketch troupe.
Last year they performed a 16 day residency at an Edinburgh Festival fringe event venue and have already been booked in for the Brighton and Edinburgh fringes this year.
“The comedy performed by this young group is inventive, original, sometimes downright weird but always joyfully funny. Each individual member of the group is a delight to watch, but it is the way they work energetically and unselfishly together that makes them successful [...] this is free comedy that I would pay money for.” - ThreeWeeks.co.ukHim and Me
Him and Me are Shea Taylor and Steve Langstaff, a comedy sketch double act best known for writing and starring in sketches for BBC2‘s Dick and Dom‘s Funny Business and for the hit YouTube video Lady Gaga Telephone Parody (over 2.5 million views).
And August 2011 saw the duo complete their debut run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, during which they received a four-star review for their show Him and Me TV.
“Think of a more accessible version of Reeves and Mortimer” – Large Manchester
“Funny, fresh and inventive. Destined for the top!” – Peter Slater (star of BBC’s Ideal and C4’s Slaterwood)Comedy Sportz
ComedySportz UK is the North West's top improvised comedy troupe. ComedySportz is a fast-paced improv comedy show where two teams battle it out for the biggest laughs. The players create quick witted sketches, scenes and songs from whatever suggestions are thrown at them by the audience to create a show that's fast, feel-good and always unpredictably funny. There's a referee on hand to steer the entertainment, call any fouls and help the audience decide the winner. Also performing a short stand up slot will be Greg O'Toole.
Since performing a debut set 8 months ago at the Ape and Apple, which he describes as terrifying, Greg has pursued his ambition to make people laugh by gigging around Manchester and beyond. He's currently on an 8 week stand up course run by the show's opening troupe, ComedySportz.
