Laura JonesEvery once in a while on this scene of ours, the stars align and a new name spins out across the cosmos. In 2012 that name is Laura Jones.

A protégé under the Visionquest banner and nurtured under the wings of Leftroom, Laura exploded into the public consciousness in 2011 with her deep and intrinsically melodic vision of house. Her ‘Live A Little’ track was included on the ‘Visionquest Spring’ sampler, and her breakthrough single ‘Love In Me’ stormed the Beatport chart and held the no.1 spot for several consecutive weeks – the second time courtesy of stellar remixes from Maceo Plex, Kate Simko and Eats Everything.

With both her music and DJ sets now resonating across dancefloors worldwide, Laura has laid the groundwork for another year in the limelight.

Matt Tolfrey

In a current musical climate where originality can often be overtaken by the mundane and regular, Matt Tolfrey’s tireless devotion and relentless energy have taken him to a point where he is beginning to shape the musical world around him.

Labels of the calibre of the legendary Classic Records and 1Trax now approach him to launch their compilation series, and through his own family of labels – Leftroom and its sister imprints Leftroom Ltd and Left’d, plus the edits label Foot and Mouth – he launches his own productions and musical tastes upon the scene. Matt’s inherent instinct for future classics have seen seasoned names such as Jamie Jones, Glimpse and Lee Curtiss all grace the label’s back catalogue. As the Leftroom stable hits maturity after 5 years, it is also now responsible for developing the likes of Laura Jones and Waifs & Strays and, in doing so, helping to launch the careers of tomorrow’s hot new house generation.

Having firmly consolidated his place at the top of the electronic pile as a producer/DJ of global renown, Matt now approaches the final moments of 2011 with many exciting new projects appearing on next year’s morning horizon. Spring 2012 will see the release of Matt’s highly-anticipated debut artist album on Leftroom entitled, ‘Word of Mouth,’ which has an interesting story behind its concept.

Simon Baker

Simon Baker has cultivated his resolute DJ skills over the last 17 years, putting them into continual practice through constant demand for worldwide touring. He recently completed his third full North American tour including a debut at Space in Miami and summer 2010 saw him regularly guest at Kehakuma at Space in Ibiza and grace the stage at the huge Carl Cox And Friends event in Mallorca.

Other highlights for that year included the Parklife Festival and The Warehouse Project in Manchester, a new residency at Liverpool’s cutting edge mUmU party and air london showcases in Paris, Barcelona and Ibiza.

Jordan Peak

Most people chance upon the world of 4/4 music in their teenage years, however a young Jordan Peak was exposed much sooner. Born just a year before the second summer of love, the youngster was raised amidst stacks of 12” vinyl and surrounded by house music from his earliest days. This extremely promising newcomer to the dance music scene was well schooled in the art of groove long before he started making music himself.

Focusing on low slung house music full of swing and swagger, Jordan has a knack for creating raw analogue charm and already encompasses a growing spectrum of sounds. Currently in the midst of a speedy ascent through the production ranks, his output already includes an intriguing set of releases, for a UK act, on labels such as Robsoul, Raum...Musik, Saved and Tsuba. This is quite an introduction to music making, considering that Jordan only released his first record in late 2009.

This year will see further releases on these labels, as well as new material on Hudd Traxx’ sister label Smoke City, and an EP on Adam Shelton and Subb-an’s exciting new One Records imprint, which is part of an intriguing new wave of UK labels. This new charge is spearheaded by the likes of Jordan and fellow Brits like Robert James – who were together named on Radio 1’s ‘Introducing’ section of the Essential Selection as being the names to watch in 2011.

Nico Lahs

A mind focused in the future in every sense, characterized by a high sense of professionally. These are maybe the best words to describe Nico Lahs, young musician of worldwide's underground music scene.

It's the tale of a child full of dreams, a tale about his love for drums grew up til today, becoming a true complete symbiosis with music at 360°.

Nico's figure is complex like a puzzle, the result of a youth written by experiences and extremes hardly recognizable in common places.

Behind his deep expression he hides at one side the charm of a party animal and on the other side the perfect accuracy of the pure musician; all features that leave, in a way or another, an unforgettable sign in every person who gets in contact with him.

With a so particular personality and a always strong desire of freshness Nico is able to transform every performance, every set in every contest, unique in its own way. Today his music is appreciated and supported by the biggest professionists and lovers of the international underground scene: a clear sign that the role of this musician in the future's global panorama will be as an absolute protagonist.

Gavin Herlihy

Gavin Herlihy’s music has been a constant feature on underground house and techno’s most iconic labels for the last few years. Forthcoming releases on Crosstown Rebels, Culprit and Leftroom are backed up by previous outings on scene leaders like Cocoon, Cadenza, Get Physical and Buzzin Fly. As comfortable writing sublime deep house as he is at crafting no-nonsense future techno, few artists have achieved such a broad base of label support as this enigmatic Irishman.

Now based in the UK’s capital of house music, Leeds, Herlihy (pronounced Herl-I-hee) is an established feature on the global DJ circuit. He earned his place thanks to a two year stint learning his trade as an up-and-coming producer in Berlin at the end of the 00’s where he notched up gigs at the Panorama Bar, Watergate and Bar 25. In the last year his tracks have been championed by a diverse array of DJs from Seth Troxler and Ricardo Villalobos to Jamie Jones and Pete Tong. A split EP with Detroit legend Delano Smith in the summer was supported by the house and techno elite while his deep and dark bomb ‘With Me’ added fire to an evolving relationship with hot UK label, Leftroom.
