Manchester Hoop Congress is back for 2012 and we are so excited and proud to announce an amazing line up of UK and international teachers.
This 2 day event will focus on expanding your skills by adding new moves to your trickbase and new techniques to improve flow and movement with the hoop. The event will consist of 5 workshops with time in between to consolidate what you have learned and skill share and play :) Come and learn new skills, see old friends, make new friends and brush up your hoop skills before the summer.
WORKSHOPS.
(Watch the videos they are exciting)
Revolva - Hooping Below the Belt
This workshop covers knee hooping, two different methods of recovering waist hooping from the knees, kick outs, kick starts and a bit of foot hooping. While the lower region of the human body has been referred to as "the Siberia of hooping," it is actually possible (and fun!) to vary upper body moves with remembering that we also have legs and feet. Get ready, people! We're going downtown. NOTE: If you can, please bring both a decent-sized core hoop for the knees and a lighter/smaller hoop for feet. The workshop will also be easier if students avoid extremely baggy pants with heavy fabric or very big flairs/bell bottoms.

Emma Kenna Hoops- Transitioning with Twins
Suitable for all levels.
Please note: The tricks/transitions covered in this workshop can just as easily be applied to one hoop play.
In this workshop we will cover having a hoop on the hand and one at the waist, horizontal and vertical off-body movement with twins. We will then learn ways of transitioning between these tricks including step outs/step ins, lifts, jumps and stalls. This will give you a good basis for dancing with your twins which will make it easier to add in more complex tricks as you progress.
Emma will be happy to cover extra variations/more difficult combinations for those at a more advanced level.

Steve Bags - Breaks
This multi-level workshop will cover a wide range of breaks from the standard to the exotic. You’ll learn how to break the hoop both on and off the body and on the horizontal and vertical plane. You’ll also use a variety of different body parts to create interesting and unusual changes in direction. The workshop will start with the foundations of breaks then move on to more advanced concepts that you can take away and apply to your hooping for months to come.

Duston Mini Hoops - Isolations
This workshop will focus on increasing the participants' level of comfort with hoop isolations. First by covering simple isolations and discussing practice tips to improve the 'stillness' of the hoop, then by introducing different techniques and ways to conceptualize how a hoop moves most naturally, or unnaturally. Still isolations, lines, and two-handed techniques will be covered. And it will be awesome :)
Simon Purdie - Utilising The Space Inside And Outside Of The Hoop (or: Waving Your Arms Around)
In this workshop, Simon Purdie invites you to to explore deepest hoopspace, with the aim of stretching the very boundaries of hula itself. Participants will learn to perform movements that hitherto would have seemed beyond the realms of imagination or practicality. We will take the humdrum concepts of Time and Space as they are understood by lesser beings, and hammer them into new and peculiar shapes for own amusement. Also we will be waving our arms around.
