Vive la Baroque!

This exclusive concert will be held at the charming Inquisitor’s Palace in Birgu, featuring the brilliant CORDIA STRING QUARTET.

Vive la Baroque! will be celebrating the works of two great composers of the baroque period, Handel and Vivaldi, whose iconic music, luxuriant and exuberant, epitomize the baroque style.

Handel, was a German-born composer famous for his operas, oratorios, anthems and organ concertos. The Cordia String Quartet will be performing his famous "Music for the Royal Fireworks", and selected arias from his famous operas Xerxes and the famous and luxuriant music Entrance of Queen of Sheba from the oratorio Solomon.
The Cordia String Quartet will be performing the famous tunes of the Royal Fireworks, selected arias from the opera Xerxes and the enchanting music "Entrance of Queen of Sheba" from the oratorio Solomon.

The string quartet will also be performing two movements from "The Four Seasons - Spring and Summer" and "La Follia". These splendid works composed by the “Red Priest”, the nickname of the Venetian Antonio Vivaldi.

The Hungarian and Maltese quartet have already performed to great critical acclaim. Two of its members have performed as soloists and in other chamber ensembles in Malta and all over Europe and they have all performed with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.

Tickets are at 20 Euro and can be purchased from Heritage Malta, the National Museum of Archaeology, Republic Street, Valletta or the Inquisitor's Palace, Birgu (Vittoriosa)

The concert tickets entitles participants to complimentary viewing of an art exhibition called In the wake of Caravaggio, on the evening of the concert, and to a glass of wine from the Caravaggio range of Marsovin.

Vive La Baroque! being organized through the collaboration between Barocco Foundation and Double Digit Productions with the support of Heritage Malta and Don Berto Restaurant at the Birgu Waterfront.
