PICO IYER is one of the most revered and respected travel writers alive today. He was born in England, raised in California, and educated at Eton, Oxford, and Harvard. He is currently living in Japan. His essays, reviews, and other writings have appeared in Time, Harper's, the New York Times, the New York Review of Books, and Vanity Fair. His books include Video Night in Kathmandu (1988), The Lady and the Monk (1991), The Global Soul (2000), The Open Road: The Global Journey of the Fourteenth Dalai Lama (2008), and most recently, The Man Within My Head (2013). Pico Iyer last joined us at USC in May 2011 to moderate a panel discussion titled “Secular Ethics: Origins, Elements and Their Function in Society” during the visit of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet.
This evening with Pico Iyer will include a reading followed by an on-stage interview and discussion with Professor Duncan Williams (Co-Director, Center for Japanese Religions and Culture; Director and Associate Professor, School of Religion) on the future of Japan.
Book sales and signing by Pico Iyer will take place during the event.
