About the show:
In These Shoes. "The heels you walk in and the heels you fall in love with. From being empowered in someone else’s shoes to the shoe that just doesn’t fit. A journey inspired by life’s little dramas and our sexual fascination with shoes. A new fairy tale taking inspiration from Cinderella, The Red Shoes and Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz with the music of Kurt Weil, Jacques Brel, Eartha Kitt, Kirsty MacColl, Duke Ellington, Friedrich Hollander, Tom Lehrer and Aletia Upstairs." Directed by Anna Brownsted with Aletia Upstairs as Miss Demeanour and Ada Kan on keys.
ALETIA UPSTAIRS is a cabaretist and a singer-songwriter of jazz and chanson with a background in theatre and world music. She uses stand-up comedy, puppetry, original music, poetry and fairy tale references in her work.
ADA KAN is a pianist and accompanist. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Music and Royal Northern College of Music specialising in piano performance. She has worked extensively for singers in cabaret shows, including Nadia Nadif and Aletia Upstairs in venues across London such as the Battersea Barge, the Hot August Fringe Festival at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, Leicester Square Theatre, Cellar Door and Soho Theatre. Ada is the pianist for the much loved Tiny Wallops theatre troupe who have performed sell out shows at Wilton’s Music Hall and Jackson’s Lane.
CABARET CAPERS with NADIA NADIF and ADA KAN https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nadia-and-Adas-Cabaret-Capers/110979842294155 Nadia and Ada make up Cabaret Capers and have been playing venues such as The Battersea Barge, Leicester Square Theatre and Wilton's Music Hall since 2009. They have performed live on Jazz FM and enjoy performing jazz, musical theatre and contemporary songs strung together by Nadia's true life anecdotes! "Fabby! Interesting, well performed songs with personable witty patter" Jazz FM. They are currently developing some vintage cabaret and jazz sets.
HELENA GOSTOSA is the love child of Victoria Wood and Bill Bailey. She has been trying to persuade audiences for over a year now that she is a classy, talented mid 30s cabaret artist. Sadly, audiences just seem to laugh at her songs about perverted love, weird sex and female newsreaders. She remains undetterred.
