Charlotte Holland:
Multi-talented 27-year-old Charlotte Holland is an entertainment phenomenon. Hailing from Worcester in the West Midlands she moved to London 3 years ago to pursue her dream of performance. She has been dancing since the age of 3, theatre since she was 7, and has performed in many Amateur Dramatic musicals, including ‘West Side story’, ‘My Fair Lady’ and ‘Oliver’ as lead. She worked as an Entertainment rep for Thomas Cook, singing and dancing in 5* Hotels, won £5k in a national singing comp, sang in front of 2000 people at the Reading festival on the Nokia stage, won an acting contract through a talent search of over 15,000 applicants for the BBC where she landed a role in BBC’s ‘Doctors’, and made it to the final 18 girls out of 10,000 for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s (BBC) “I’d do anything”. Tonight Charlotte performs a selection of covers to start the evening.
Karin Fransson:
London based "sultry Swedish-born pop starlet" (Geoff Cowart, Westminster Chronicle) Karin Fransson has many strings to her bow including song writing, production, guitar and viola playing to mention a few. With a distinctive voice and melodic heart wrenching songs Karin delivers her material with an understated passion setting her apart from other singer/ songwriters of her ilk. She is well on her way to establishing herself on the international scene with her debut album "Private Behaviour". (Available online and in Rough Trade shops). www.karinfransson.com
Dion Deverill:
Dion Deverill hails from Auckland, New Zealand. His passion for music started at the age of 14 and like many other artists starting out, took up piano lessons.
He acquired a strong interest in Jazz music and consequently joined a jazz band and small group combo in which he performed with for many years.
While studying music theory at Auckland University he developed a strong interest in Electronic music production.
He soon started composing electronica and performing in clubs and venues as one of New Zealand premier Electronic Acts under the moniker of 'Fluid'.
A number of his original tunes had some airtime on NZ radio. Following his move to the UK Dion focused on composing downbeat and developing his voice and guitar skills.
After a year of practicing his tunes in his bedroom, a stubborn new year’s resolution, and some timely singing lessons, Dion took the plunge and has taken his act to stage.
He has been performing for voice and guitar regularly since his debut in April last year.
Rebecca Scales:
Rebecca has been singing professionally for 11 years! Her style is both powerful and diverse. She writes, sings, records and performs; jazz, soul, funk pop and rock and also top lines for many dance tracks working with the likes of the 'So called Scumbags' DJ Marble & BigBoy Music.
Rebecca was the front for a cover band called "Forbidden Rush" which enjoyed critical success. The band performed throughout UK and were no 1 in radio city charts for a month.
Rebecca jumped at the opportunity to work with funky, soulful electronic band Suzy Wong Sandwich, so moved to London. Her first track 'desired' was released in March 2006. They played as a band all over the UK, and remixed their music into dance records of every genre.
This gave Rebecca an even greater desire to achieve solo success and started a music production and sound recording course at the IMW to increase her skills in the music industry.
Rebecca: " You can't just be a singer/ songwriter these days to stand out so wanted to produce my own music and also engineer!"
Rebecca has also collaborated with multiple producers from many genres including funky house, hip hop and downbeat.
She says "my ultimate dream is to be an artist who appeals to everyone from children to the older generation. I want to make music that appeals to ears of all generations! http://www.myspace.com/rebeccascales www.rebeccascales.com
Luigi Pignatiello:
Award winning Eclectic Guitarist, Composer and Vocalist, Luigi Pignatiello is at forefront on the contemporary Jazz scene. With his immensely fluent playing and remarkable technique Luigi's music shows a seductive and charming kaleidoscope of influences, a unique melting pot of sounds combined with jazz improvisation. He has worked with the likes of Jazz stars Nasheet Waits, Greg Lewis, Jeanne Carroll, and Oscar awarded composer Nicola Piovani, as well as giving outstanding performances like at the Italian "Taranta's Night Festival" to an audience of 80,000. Tonight Luigi is performing a mix of classic Jazz standards and originals from his albums, with his unique energy, passion, and enthusiasm that is hugely infectious and highly astonishing. T.I.N
Meet TIN… How do you describe music that makes you feel, makes you think, while making you want to dance? Soulful, emotional, deep, funky, original, rocky, simply BRILLIANT. T.I.N abbreviated from ‘Things I’m Not’, challenges you to just enjoy the music. Nothing else matters, not what she looks like, but what she sounds like. In that very endeavour she invokes memories of the ghost of music past. When an artist simply had to deliver exactly that good music, when the packaging was simply a bonus. For what is a TIN but simply that container which holds the food we seek… If your looking for a model, shaking it on the dance floor, doing vocal gymnastics, turn away…… “Will I ever Learn” EP out soon
We look forward to welcoming you all back to the Ritzy!
