Join us for an evening of readings and conversations with acclaimed Israeli short-story writer Etgar Keret.
The evening will be chaired by investigative journalist Tim Samuels. Actor David Morrisey will punctuate the discussion with short readings of Keret’s best-known stories.
More absurd, humorous, surreal and compassionate than ever, Keret’s new stories reflect Israel’s uncanny reality. Yet, at the same time, his characters are defined by a familiar and fierce humanity which is truly universal.
Born in Tel Aviv in 1967, Etgar Keret is one of the leading voices in Israeli literature and cinema. He is the author of five bestselling collections, which have been translated into 29 languages.
His writing has been published in The New York Times, Le Monde, the Guardian, the Paris Review and Zoetrope. Keret has also received numerous awards including the Book Publishers Association’s Platinum Prize, the Prime Minister’s Prize, the Ministry of Culture’s Cinema Prize and the Jewish Quarterly Wingate Prize (UK, 2008). Jellyfish, his first film as a director along with wife Shira Geffen, won the Camera d’Or prize for best first feature at Cannes in 2007.Price: Online savers £9.50, on the door £14.50
