For those unfamiliar with the MC Challenge, here's a quick break down: In each heat, four top calibre MCs take on 5 one minute rounds that test all disciplines of what it takes to be a true school Hip-Hop MC. Judged on song writing ability, freestyle & cipher skills, performance, originality, versatility, charisma, presence, projection, clarity, flow, depth & crowd response.

Round one: Written - [A written track]

Round two: Acapella - [No longer than 32bars]

Round three: Freestyle - [4 surprise items referenced in freestyle]

Round four: MC vs DJ - [Rap while DJ changes tempo & rhythm]

Round five: Cipher skills - [4 bars exchange 4 times]

Four heats featuring 4 MCs each = 4 MCs in the UK Final = 1 MC representing UK in the world finals august 2012 in New York City.
