On the 23rd February RBS will announce their 2011 Preliminary Results, and we'll be at their Holborn branch to show them that big bonuses and business as usual is not good enough. Our last event at Barclays was a great success, and we'd love you to join us at this one!

Come join us before work outside the RBS branch on Thursday morning to hand in letters of complaint, to shut your account if you're an RBS customer, or to tell them that you will be leaving RBS (or their subsidiary Natwest).

Despite the public uproar about RBS offering CEO Steven Hester a massive bonus (which public pressure then forced him to forfeit), 33,000 job losses and failure to meet their lending targets for small businesses, RBS is expected to pay around £500 million in bonuses.

These huge payouts from a bank now 83% owned by the tax payer sit in stark contrast to the stagnating economy, austerity cuts and job losses experienced by the wider public following the £45bn RBS bailout.

While bonuses are just one of many problems in British banking, they serve to remind our banking system is failing households, businesses and wider society whilst lining the pockets of the few, and Government promises to effect change have yet again proven hollow.

Change happens when we act. Where we keep our money matters.

This Thursday say ‘no’ to business as usual for the big banks, ‘yes’ to backing more ethical and socially useful alternatives, and build a better banking system.
