The Real MikaelKillaflaw
Electro Rock-Blues outfit Killaflaw, are an act who have dominated the Liverpool scene for a number of years now. That's not to say they are exclusive to this fair city, far from it having built up a strong following in the capital including none other than XFM's Eddie Temple Morris who has tipped these guys for success predicting that their forthcoming album is to make waves akin to The Prodigy and Kasabian, high praise but well deserved.
Support comes from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music, NME Radio, Xfm London amongst many others and they have played the likes of Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Beat Herder, Camden’s Club NME Night at Koko and Club Remix at Proud in London to name a few. They have remixed may artists and in turn been remixed, including the Utah Saints remix of 'Set Me On Fire'.
Killaflaw always step it up a notch at every performance and will make no exception at The Lovely Job, expect a full on dance-rock cross over set that will blow the roof off!!
Tone Puppets
Full of eastern promise - and northern grit, resident band at The Lovely Job, Tone Puppets produce a fizzy, guitar fuelled indie laced sound with curious time signatures and mathy prog-outs that’s been likened to the Beta Band/Nirvana and The Doors.
Follow up single to the successful track 'Ignore' in 2011, 'Late Nights' was released for download in Jan 2012 and has been gaining recognition on a mass basis including huge radio exposue and is also due to be included on an 'Acid Jazz Records' compilation. The band are set to embark on a small north west tour and have offers on the table for a series of shows in the capital after impressing down south with their ‘Lovely Job Tours’ shows.
The Liverpool Big Band
This band comprise of over 30 members and produce a blend of Funk, Jazz and Swing.
The sheer scale of this outfit is worth the entry fee in itself, there’s not many stages that can accommodate this kind of act and The Zanzibar is one of them. You have to see this set up in the venue itself to believe it.
They produce a wall of sound that you just can’t ignore and it grinds along and peaks in all the right places like all good dirty blues funk should!
The 53’s
The 53s are a four-piece Liverpool guitar band doing their best to make people dance. With plenty of support on BBC Radio Merseyside, LFC TV and even on match days at Anfield, the guys have a experienced pedigree. Their latest matrial is making waves on BBC Introducing on BBC Radio 6 and also NME Radio.
Acoustically driven Pauls voice has enough gravel about it to convince you he is older and wiser than his years, he makes you believe the stories he’s telling. Backed by an excellently tight rhythm section, The 53s are worth keeping an eye on.
10B’s
Still a fairly new band The 10B's by their own admission are 'Raucous and aggressive, with something 'real' to say'. Their music is delivered in more of an uplifting direction rather than aggressive but does not shirk from hitting the heights of an all out rock assault.
They received glowing reviews from their performances at the August Matthew Street fringe festival last year and were asked back two days running to perform. Check their latest offerings on their Facebook page and check them out at The Lovely Job.The Real Mikael:
