This is a very special edition of That Mixmag Thing to raise as much money as possible for a 2 year old little girl called Sadie-Rose from Knaresborough. Sadies suffering from a highly aggressive childhood cancer called neuroblastoma cancer.
On Saturday 7th January Sadie-Rose and her parents flew our to America for life changing treatment with the help of funds raised! Sadie was doing really up until 2 days before she was due to start her life changing treatment new scans showed that Sadie had relapsed and new tumours had been found in her Liver and Chest cavitity. The only hope of Sadies future has now been smashed to bits! Unless her family can raise another £250,000 amount needed to offer her more treatment! If they can't raise this money the only option for Sadie Rose will to be travel back to the UK, where they will only be able to provide Sadie with palliative care.
There has already been a lot of fund raising events and annoynmous donations but would like to help make this event a special one and help towards the cause.
Please check out the links and video below which will tell you more information on the Sadie Rose Clifford Appeal and how you can donate, (if you can) I know January is a tight month for cash but everylittle helps!

MR.C DISCO SET (Poker Flat / Wagon Repair / Get Physical / Adjunkt / Superfreq)
Richard West aka Mr.C was born in London in the late 60’s. He started MCing in the London clubs aged only 16 & soon earned a reputation as a fast talking vivacious rapper working with LWR radio’s Ron Tom, Jasper the Vinyl Junkie & Jazzy M.
Mr.C then hooked up with Colin Faver & Evil Eddie Richards to became resident rapper at Camden Palace going on to MC for Colin Faver on the then illegal Kiss FM.
Mr.C went into the studio to record his 1st house track with Eddie Richards as Myster-E in 1987. This inspired Mr.C to become a DJ to learn more about his beloved House & Techno music so in late ‘87 Richard took to the decks.
Mr.C has since organized, promoted & been resident DJ at: Fantasy (‘88), Base (Dungeons ‘89), Release (91), Harmony (92), Drop (93), Cyclone (94), Vapourspace (94 & 95), Flavour (The End 95 & 96), Subterrain (The End (95 - 2002), Superfreq (The End/Junk Club/Bardot/World-wide 2002 - Present) & Super Disco Freq (2010).

The PBR (Patrol Boat, Riverine) is a small rigid-hulled patrol boat used in the Vietnam war. The small versatile vessel could operate in shallow and weed-choked rivers with great speed and maneuverability. PBR Streetgang is the name given to the boat crew in the 1979 Vietnam film Apocalypse Now. “The crew were mostly kids. Rock and Rollers with one foot in their grave” tells Martin Sheen, in what could be described as a film that not only illuminated the Vietnam tale, but also the underlying insanity of the times.
Bonar Bradberry and Tom Thorpe were christened PBR STREETGANG after a long trip to Ibiza. Ibiza is a second home to the lads as residents for world re-nowned party We Love… at Space. Tom and Bonar met through the infamous circus of the Leeds nightlife. Honing their craft at the legendary Asylum, which took the clubbing template and span it musically round its little finger. The duo shared a booth with some of the finest acts dance music has to offer, from Jazzy Jeff to Ricardo Villalobos. Much fun was had and many friends made. Many of whom follow them with great passion and zeal to all four corners of the globe today.
The pair earned great respect across the musical spectrum with fans such as Crazy P, Greg Wilson, The Unabombers, Clive Henry and Ralph Lawson. Their unique musical approach, never failing to connect with the crowd, threading Larry’s New York legacy to the Jacking underground beats of their Leeds roots.
Over the last five years, their DJ partnership has evolved into audience enthralling sets which flow effortlessly from Ableton live to the turntables via a piece of circuitry that allows both heads to mix together as one. The duo have a versatile approach of playing that allows them to easily adapting from big Festival stages and main-rooms to smaller basements and backrooms.
PBR Streetgang have released productions on labels such as 2020 Vision, Red Music, Futureboogie, E.A.R, ISM and Wolf Music. They are very excited by a forthcoming release on Jamie Jones Hot Creations in late 2011.
This is a trip up river you really shouldn’t miss.

Leeds based Ste Roberts is one of the brains behind two of the coolest UK labels Hypercolour & Glass Table. Having first cut his cloth at Immigrant Records with Robin Porter. Recognised as one of the most consistent DJ’s on the scene, Ste began to frequently play at all of his hometown’s major parties alongside heavyweights such as Michael Mayer, The Orb, Dominik Eulberg & Jimmy Edgar to name but a very few.
Gigs at top London haunts such as Lo*Kee & Toi Toi plus residencies at the musical institution that was T Bar plus the more recent “Hybrid Life” have only further enhanced his reputation.
With his first release as a producer, “Clean Air” on MagicBag in 2010 making a big impression, look out for material on home label Hypercolour and brand his very own new imprint “Initials”.
With a DJ diary that has now included dates at Fabric, Batofar, Stop Making Sense Festival and Space, Ibiza- expect to hear a lot from Ste Roberts in the future. For all booking enquires please contact: ally@avant-booking.co.uk

Born and b(red) in Manchester (UK), Tom was musically educated through the heady days of the colourful 'Madchester' indie scene, catching the twilight years of legendary Manchester clubs such as the Hacienda, The Boardwalk and Electric Chair. These important no nonsense, non conformist rave institutions were to have a profound effect on Tom which is reflected in his music, outlook and attitude today. Having spent his early teenage years sneaking past bouncers at the Hacienda, Tom ended up moving to Leeds for University and headed straight for seminal parties Back to Basics and Hard Times to get a further grounding in true house music! After University Tom moved back to Manchester to create his own legacy, kicking off his now legendary BackToFront parties in the summer of 2006.
Off the back of these special parties Tom has slowly cut his teeth as a solid UK house DJ crafting an intelligent, deep and classic sound of underground 90's house gems through to cutting edge modern deep house which has kept him on heavy rotation around the UKs most revered parties (mulletover, Below, Sankeys, Face, Back to Basics, Just Jack). With his finger firmly on the pulse, Tom is rapidly carving out his own unique sound and vision and is part of a new alliance of young, talented UK DJs and label owners like Subb-an, Adam Shelton, Richy Ahmed & Tristan Da Cunha who have been bubbling under for many years but are now starting to shape their own future sound of house music. In 2011 Tom launched his Illusion Recordings label to the world with maximum impact with a hook up with close friends One Records to pull off the most talked about event at Sonar 2011 under a their 'ONE ILLUSION' umbrella. With an all-star line-up of Craig Richards, The Mole, Trus'me, Rob Mello, Subb-an, Adam Shelton and Tom, set at the iconic W Hotel Barcelona, One Illusion showed the world that Tom and his crew mean business! Illusion Recordings in a short time has become a force to be reckoned with within the international house scene quickly rising to the top with its forward thinking musical and visual ideals and standout events.
After a decade of partying, making music and selecting and collecting records, Tom is now stepping out of the shadows armed with a deadly record collection ready to unleash his music and Illusion Empire to the wider world. With 15 years of DJ experience in his locker, a forth coming catalogue of tantalising new productions and remixes, an exciting label making big noises and his One Illusion events in demand around the globe; Tom's hard work, dedication and passion are starting to pay off.

At the age of 15 Frenchy initiated his musical passion and crossed the doors of the world-renowned bastion of house, “Back to Basics”. From this point on he has absorbed his musical spirit from all manor of influences and the vibrancy of the Leeds music scene.
His musical home, Back to Basics, is synonymous with continuous quality. The club is revered worldwide as one of the pioneers of house music. Anyone who knows house, knows the night itself and that the Basics residents have always been at the top of their game. If you’ve been at Basics in the last eight years, you’ll know Frenchy’s DJing has been a permanent fixture and as a resident he encapsulates the essence of the establishment every time he plays.
Guest spots at UK clubs like the Sub Club, Below and Just Jack, to name a few, as well as playing further a field in countries like Croatia and Berlin have served to reinforce his presence and make him a favorite amongst the musical heads that know. Recent gigs alongside Radio Slave, Josh Wink and Clive Henry, amongst others, have demonstrated Frenchy’s skills and versatility to a wide audience as he continues to set dance floors alight each time he graces the decks.
His ability to read the crowd and build a groove means he continually sets himself apart from most DJ’s and musically covers everything from Detroit Techno to Deep House and has an expansive scope that extends to a variety of Disco and Funk oddities. His sets are always diverse and keep the crowd interested by incorporating this variety of styles. Think Mark Broom to Mark.E, Moods & Grooves to Nu Groove, as well as everything in between and you’ll get an idea of Frenchy’s abilities.
A well-timed, well-played narrative of the best music, with a honed focus on underground house, is an accurate description of Frenchy’s DJing. Don’t take these words for it, listen to him play and see for yourself as he continues to gain the recognition that he rightly deserves.
www.soundcloud.com/throwing-shapes MATT COOPER (Respekt Recordings / Rekluse / Ground Factory)
Matt Cooper was born and bred in the smoky Industrialism of Lancashire, and it was his desire to break out of the shackles of Small-town life that has helped him develop into the talent he is today. After cutting his teeth with the sounds of Trance and Hardcore from the age of 14, Matt spent many hours in his bedroom listening to records he had bought on his Father’s old belt-drive turntable. Needless to say, this did not do much to satisfy his musical hunger, and he soon set about saving for his own decks. He soon started to gain the confidence he needed to approach promoters to play at their parties, often lying about his age just so he could get into the clubs… Fast-forward to the present, and Matt is still just as inspired by new sounds than he was on day one, forging his sound in the Underground electronic wonder of Techno. In the past two years, he has proven his talent by winning the praises of Galaxy FM’s ‘Nu Breed’ radio show, and Mixmag’s ‘Future Hero’ competition at Earl’s Court, London. From there, Matt gained a residency at one of the most prestigious nights in UK Clubland, Leeds’ the Dirty Disco, enabling Matt to display his talents alongside some of the biggest names on the scene, such as Adam Beyer, M.A.N.D.Y, Luciano, Steve Lawler, Dave Clarke, James Zabiela, Timo Maas, Sebo K, Trentemoller, Ivan Smagghe, Anja Schneider, Pan-Pot, Stefan Bodzin, Mr C, DJ Yoda and Adam Freeland…. the list is endless, putting to the test Matt’s ability to diversify his sets to suit.
This year Matt’s graced the decks at legendary clubs like Privilege (Ibiza) and Space (Ibiza), and also spread his magic throughout the UK, Ireland and Latvia, to name a few.
Twisting and turning through bubbly, melodic House and mind-warping Techno, Matt’s ‘Dex and FX’ sets are the stuff of legend throughout the North of England, and with him now turning his hand to production, the sky is the limit…
www.soundcloud.com/dj-matt-cooper LUKE POMPEY (Love not Money)
At 26 and with a career spanning 8 years there's not much Leeds based DJ & Love Not Money Records owner Luke Pompey hasn't already achieved. He graced the decks at Ibizan super club Cream Amnesia at just 18 years old then 2 years later supported Tiesto when Galaxy FM invited him to play Privilege. He's played to crowds in excess of 5000+ alongside nearly every big DJ on the planet and had his productions supported by the likes of Erick Morillo, Carl Cox, Jamie Jones, Soul Clap and Pete Tong who featured his both his remix of Dennis Ferrer's "Hey Hey" and Real Nice & Cubiq's 'Had Enough' on the Radio 1 essential selection.
Residing in Leeds, home to the UK's most vibrant clubbing scenes, he holds the main residency for the cities leading House brand FILTH, one of the most import DJ rolls in the city. Playing for FILTH has seen him warm up for the scene's biggest names and offered some amazing opportunities playing back2back with both The Martinez Brothers & Style of Eye and touring the brand at Festivals such as Glade, Glastonbury, Creamfields & Secret Garden Party.
As owner of 'Love Not Money Records', in a short space of time he's turned the label in to one of the UK's most talked about music outputs, with tracks being supported by everyone from Solomun to Sasha and reaching the dizzy heights of No.2 in Beatport's Nu Disco chart on only their 2nd release. With a schedule sorted well into the summer and remixes to come from Hot Since 82, Waifs & Strays & Darius Syrossioan, things are looking very promising!
www.soundcloud.com/lovenotmoneyrecords IAIN O'HARE (Outcross Records)
Iain's passion for DJing began at the infamous Basics afterparty, Rokeby Gardens, where his love affair with vinyl began. If you're lucky enough to have caught one of Iain's sets, then you'll know to expect an eclectic mix of House, Disco and Soul.
In 2009 he was signed to Outcross Records and began work alongside Miguel Campbell and Matt Hughes. Soon enough Iain had his debut release on Outcross. The a-side, 'Radiovox' getting support from DJs like Hot Toddy and Manik. While the b-side, 'I'll Come Running' was a favourite with Soul Clap and Wolf + Lamb on their DJ Kicks Tour.... So much so that they placed it in their "Best of Kicks Tour Mix". He has been spending a lot of time in the studio over the past year, building up a wide array of music to be heard throughout the coming year..... 2012 looks set for some great releases from Iain.
