Sunday Sermon Presents BROTHERS ON THE SLIDE!

Leeds' small band with the big funk/soul sound!

Since the late 1990s, Brothers On The Slide have been a mainstay on the Leeds funk/soul scene with long standing residencies and regular gigs at The Hifi Club, The Wardrobe and Smokestack.

The band is made upo of some of Leeds finest jazz/soul/funk musicians who have recording and live gig credits with the likes of Corinne Bailey Rae, Haggis Horns, Candi Statton, Martha Reeves, Robbie Williams, Andy Hamilton, Odyssey, Gary Husband, Jaki Graham.

On vocals, the man mountain of soul, Pete Huckerby. Musical director and pianist is Wayne Pollock. Holding it down on bass, Kenny Higgins. Funk-rock-soul guitar licks come from Rob Durban. Finally at the back on drums is the rhythm section engine Andy Marshall.

Steeped in the soul/funk tradition, the band 's obvious influences are the US legends - Stevie Wonder, Bobby Womack, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye - but they add their own original material mixed in with new arrangements of some classics.

A rare Leeds gig for the Brothers now as the live soul/funk gig scene in Leeds shrinks each year so come out and show some love and support to a Leeds musical institution.

Dors 8pm. Live sets from 9pm. DJ Lubi deep soul/funk/jazz-funk sounds before, between and after live sets. Curfew 12 minight (for all those working the next day).

Cover charge of just £3 for a proper concert with quality musicians performing in a tailor made live music venue featuring professional stage lighting and visuals, elevated stage with perfect sight-lines, 7K dB soundsystem and professional sound engineers. We charge a minimum cover entry fee to pay our musicians decent wages.
