The First Ever International League on Indian Soil!
✔ The Arsenal and Liverpool legends will take part in the newly-formed Indian Premier League. Ex-Arsenal Star- Robert Pires, Ex-Chelsea striker Hernan Crespo,and Liverpool legend Fernando Morientes are also joining clubs in the six-team competition, which kicks off on February 25.
✔ World Cup-winning Italian captain Fabio Cannavaro will be one of the six icon players for the IPL-Soccer
✔ John Barnes, Peter Reid and Colin Todd have been hired to coach three of the Bengal-based clubs.
✔ The other veterans they hope will draw big crowds are former Bolton midfielder Jay-Jay Okocha and Argentina internationals Hernan Crespo and Juan Pablo Sorin.
✔ Argentine Juan Pablo Sorin is another player to be involved while Brits Peter Reid and Colin Todd -- who both have English Premier League experience -- join Barnes amongst the coaches.
Each team will be allowed to sign up to four foreign players while the rest will be made up of Indians.
Each of the six franchises -- Kolkata, Barasat, Howrah, Haldia, Durgapur and Siliguri -- must have at least a famous foreign player and coach.
The league will run for 10 weeks with matches played from Wednesdays through to Sundays, mostly at night.
