The Exodus Assembly. an outreach inner-city ministry, is concerned
about the ''dream of Dr. King". We have named a street in Jackson after this honorable man, but the appearance of the street needs and deserves to be reflective of the character and integrity of this pioneer of justice. Our inner-city ministry is located at 851 Martin Luther King Drive. On this street, there are abandoned buildings and vacant unkept properties. Our ministry has formulated a plan to bring life, business, and industry back to the inner-city. Yes, there are other areas in Jackson in need of revitalization, but our focus is on the street named in honor of a man that gave his life for the cause of civil rights.
Because the Exodus family wants to renovate and revitalize this
inner-city area, we have devised a blueprint. This blueprint would include a licensed daycare facility and director, an after-school tutorial program for "at risk" students in grades K-12 using certified teachers and volunteer college students upon referral from their Academic Deans and/or Department Heads. Student referrals to this program would include students that scored Minimal or Basic on the MCT2 test.
A food and clothing pantry would be instituted for the needy of that community. An apartment complex would be renovatd or built to house twenty battered or abused women. A portion of the facility would have a mentoring program for teaching resume preparation, successfully completing an application for employment, and a GED Program geared toward those released from jails and prisons as an intervention to reduce the rate of recidivism.
For a $50 tax deductible donation, we are giving businesses, churches, colleges, universities, fraternities, and sororities and opoportunity to be a part of "keeping Dr. King's dream alive". Someone will be the winner of a fully-loaded, 2013 Infiniti JX35. The drawing will be held at our Annual Church Conference on June 9, 2012, for the Exodus Assembly. Visit our website at www.exodusassembly.org to purchase tickets. For questions call 6019482850 or Pastor Cathy Terrell at 6012127601.
We can make a change when we come together as one. Be blessed and may God keep you forever safe and wrapped in his arms!
