Jim Hudek is a Houston artist of discipline and talent developed to a high standard of creativity. Throughout his career, Jim has demonstrated a genuine passion in his work, whether drawing, painting, sculpting or photography. Jim's painting style is spontaneous and expressive. Borrowing much of his inspiration from various forms of jazz music. His works are a result of study of abstract expressionists such as Franz Kline and De Kooning, incorporating it to his own innovative style. A Unique blend of Modern, contemporary and abstract styles, with an occasional splash of exciting colors and Black and white, the art speaks to the viewer of Modern Contemporary tastes.
Born in Dallas and raised in Houston, I have always been involved in some sort of creative endeavor. From airbrush art to acrylic and oils, I have ventured on a lifetime of Techniques and explorations. However, my true passion is abstract expressionist art. It is this form of painting that I feel is representaional of Jazz. My other passion. The free style of jazz is an inspirational artform that I transcribe into a visual image.
Through colors and composition, I attempt a sponteniety of ramdom brush strokes that convey the sense of feeling I get from Jazz music. Always searching and experimenting is the key to my creative energy. Most often I'm asked if i have a visual image in my minds eye before I begin. I may begin with some concept but more often than not the painting takes on a new life as the process is unfolding.
